Robin Hood - Kapawa - 27th June

Robin Hood

Robin Hood was a man that demanded our respect and it was an incredible story. Our aim was to transform the place a little into the past.

In this case, we are turned into “merrymen” of Robin Hood’s story.

We did activities and games in memory of that period. Some people wore old clothes and made a drama.

We wanted to make the place laugh and to make

all the children have fun. Sometimes, when we play games, we give a little silver to the children that believe were good and do all the activities well.

Kapawa

The place is very good! It’s like a farm. It’s very big and you can do 100 things or play games. The space of the camp starts with rock climbing, zip line and rope course. There is human football and it has a very large ground.

Then in the middle is the house. Inside are the bedrooms and bathrooms. There are bathrooms upstairs and downstairs. In the dining room, we eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. Next is the kitchen, where the chef cooked for us.

Games

The game of “singing” was very very fun and especially the songs that we sang at the campfire like “Bill” or “Bananas”. Those songs were very catchy songs. I’m still singing “Bill”. The game that we did on the last morning was very fun. The game that we had to separate

in groups of colors and we had to dance and run around. Carla taught us a song and we changed clothes. That game was one of my favorites. The posters that we did for “wanted” for the counselors were funny to do because we had to a picture of the counselors. There was a reward and on them were what thing they did good or bad. For example, I did Ross’ poster because he is my counselor and we put that the reward was $100 and that he shot 2 cows that were pregnant. It was excellent!!!! Really Fun.

Jobs,Applications and Interviews

Here at the camp we had eight jobs. To decide your job, we had to complete an application with our 3 favorite ones. We also had a formal job interview with the counselors, so we have to be in the correct job for everyone.

The jobs we have are:

Reporters Write articles like in the E-zine and then counselors will upload them to the blog.

Games

Mingo – Mingo is very fun but “Mingo”, wow, what a name! It’s like Bingo and when you say mingo, you move your hands, it seems like Pac-man. I mean it’s very fun but it’s like that you look so ridiculous.

Splat – this game is really awesome. I really, really like it .It’s fun and you can play it in every place. It’s a game that you can play with your friends or family or whoever you want to.

Wink-murderer – Oh I love that game. It’s very fun and also very mysterious (two-in-one). Sometimes it is a little boring because there is someone who you wink at, we started saying, “Oh, but he is the murderer and then he tells another boy and it continues like that. Someday, if you play this game with your friends or whoever it is, you touch the murderer or the sheriff’s head; insure that all the people’s eyes are closed.

Human-foosball – that game is great and fun but also special. You cannot play this game in a place that you want. It’s cool the idea that you tie robe around your stomach and play like “human football”. It’s very fun!!!

The game of ropes is cool when you jump up and feel that you are being dangerous but you’re not and the person that is down-stairs can take amazing pictures of you. When you zoom in on the faces, it seems that you are flying. I couldn’t go because I broke my leg in my house coming down the stairs. I loved to take pictures of my friends. The pictures were really cool and my friends liked them.

Weather

Here in Kapawa, it is very cold you have to put on many t-shirts and sweaters etc. We have to wear very warm clothes. If not you are going to get sick and its not what the teachers want because you can’t have fun if you are sick or you have to stay in the bed in a sleeping bag.

So in conclusion, you have to wear very warm clothes not to be sick. It is very cold and even more at night. At night, it is the coldest time but during the day is also cold.

Good and Bad

In the camp, the “English Immersion camp" that took place in Kapawa Camp for the 6th grade from Beth School was during 3 days.

The camp had 8 advantages like the following one: they have 8 different

counselors and only 7 were nice. Furthermore there were prizes for speaking English all the time and also the counselors gave prizes to helpers when they wanted.

On the other hand, there were a lot of disadvantages.

There were very bad people like the teachers and the security. They didn’t respect the kids and the kid’s rights were nothing for them. The security man, Martin, caught me and hurt me leg. Later he caught me and trap me. Some minutes later, he and the teachers made jokes about me and told me I had to go to a reformatory and that I was going to be sanctioned.

The Best Things in the Camp versus the Bad Things in the Camp

I will tell you about the “Kapawa Camp”. In the Chascomus (the camp), the food was great. Lucho and Doris were the cooks and very kind. The cooked a lot of things like spaghetti, meat with potato, pizza and a lot of things more.

Some of the guys did jokes with candy, that it was really spicy and some of the children ate the candies. A lot of the children in the camp climbed the rocks, zip lined and human football, etc.

Before I tell you, the good things in the camp, I will tell you the bad things.

In the camp, I crash with a 2 boys without wanting to and I went to hospital. My nose was very bad so I lost all the fun things like the medieval party.
